What exactly is electrolysis?
A:
An ophthalmologist from St. Louis named Charles E. Michel was the first to discover this in 1875. Originally he had come up with a way to remove ingrown eyelashes and in turn discovered he could also remove the hair permanently. Electrolysis is the permanent way of removing unwanted individual facial and body hairs. Medical devices called epilators destroy the hair growth tissue. Thus naming this electrolysis, a hair thin metal probe is slid into a hair follicle and a small amount of electricity is delivered causing localized damage to the areas that generates hair. Therefore, the regenerative ability of the hair follicle is permanently eliminated. Electrolysis is essential to realizing the look you want and it is more effective than ever before. |

Is electrolysis really the only permanent method of
hair removal?
A:
Yes! It is the only permanent way of achieving that smooth, BARE SENSATION on your skin. With over 125 years of clinically proven safety and effectiveness, electrolysis still to this day beats out all other methods of hair removal being permanent. |

How does electrolysis compare to other methods of hair removal?
A:
It doesn't because nothing else is permanent. Waxing, threading, and tweezing are alike. These methods will only last anywhere from 1 week to 6 weeks. However a lot of people will get ingrown hairs and discoloration of the skin which can be quite annoying and embarrassing. Additionally, they may cause an increase in hair growth activity. Depilatories and shaving can cause an irritation to the skin while the hair re-grows quickly, usually within a few days. Laser hair removal has only been FDA approved as having a reduction of hair growth, not permanent. In hundreds of recent studies done across the United States, the average person had only a 20% to 30% decrease of hair growth after undergoing several treatments of laser treatments. And treatment costs for laser start anywhere from $200 - $500 per treatment. |

How many electrolysis treatments are required?
A:
Since many factors influence hair growth, you will need to return for several visits. The number of treatments will vary with each client. Every client has different factors such as hair growth cycles, the quantity of hair growth, thickness of hair growth, heredity, hormone function, certain medications, and if temporary methods of hair removal have been used previously. Any one of these will determine different treatment schedules with each client. After an initial visit, I will be able to tell you more about how your sessions will follow. Sessions usually vary anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour with the average person needing 15 to 30 minute treatments. Some people need treatments as often as every week, while others every 8 weeks. If you follow the recommended treatment schedule, one can usually accomplish their goal of removing the unwanted hair between 12 to 18 months. |

Does electrolysis damage the skin or have any side effects?
A:
Immediately following treatment, there might be slight redness, which varies with each individual and usually disappears within an hour. Occasionally, small whiteheads or tiny scabs may occur. This will happen with more sensitive skin type people. It is important to remember that this is part of the normal healing process and will not cause any permanent damage and also disappear in about two days. A little cover up will diminish them easily. Also I can adjust the amount of intensity, so if you tend to mark up easily, I can lower the amount of heat produced. |

Can pregnant women receive electrolysis?
A:
Unwanted hair can be caused by hormonal changes brought on by pregnancy. Electrolysis can be performed on any normal skin. This includes pregnant women. It has never been proven harmful to pregnant women although I suggest that you seek the advice of your physician before treatments. Electrolysis can enhance your natural beauty with smooth, hair-free and healthy looking skin for a glowing look that's uniquely you! |

What does electrolysis feel like? Does it hurt?
A:
It is impossible to destroy hair growth tissue without sensation because each hair follicle is surrounded by its network of nerve endings. The sensation, which may be felt, is assurance that destructive activity is taking place. Even though some parts of the body are more sensitive than others, adjustments can be made which may help to make the treatment more comfortable. I can only best describe the feeling as a heat sensation, as though a slight burn. With a little ice, you will sooth this quickly and forget that you just even had a treatment within minutes. |
